A Learning Technologist on the Content Success team is an engineer, analyst, teacher, educational strategist, and program administrator in one. You should take pride in ensuring that the students in your Nanodegree program receive the best possible learning experience by continually improving the course content based on student performance and feedback, as well as your own pedagogical expertise.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience building complex front-end and full-stack web applications.
  • At least one year of experience with React, Redux, Node.js, and server framework like Express.
  • Mastery of JavaScript (ES5 and ES6), CSS, HTML.
  • Experience building and using RESTful APIs.
  • Strong foundation of technical knowledge in design patterns and code organization.
  • Experience with build tools (e.g. Webpack).
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of version control principles, preferably using Git.
  • Proficiency with command line and Chrome Developer Tools.
  • Prior experience teaching/tutoring students of multiple levels of mastery.
  • Excellence in reading, understanding, and debugging unfamiliar code, as well as identifying the root cause of failing applications.
  • Prior experience in content development and/or delivery, as well as using data to refine and improve content effectiveness.
  • Ability to review educational content from a student perspective to identify areas for improvement, as well as opportunities to challenge advanced students and to simplify material for those who are struggling.
  • Proven experience prioritizing and multitasking multiple urgent needs.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Python 2 and Python 3, as well as experience with at least one Python web framework.
  • Knowledge of React Native.

Responsibilities:

  • Use data to anticipate and identify potential student drop-off points in program content and build supplemental material to help increase retention.
  • Create engaging technical content in the form of programming exercises, assessments, and tutorials to help reinforce student learning.
  • Update and maintain technical content based on data-driven feedback.
  • Create technical reports that reflect the health of the product you are responsible for and provide actionable feedback to help reach the team’s goals.
  • Assist in expert consultation during alpha/beta testing processes for new program content.
  • Communicate content needs, challenges, and opportunities to stakeholders at Udacity (e.g. content, engineering, and product).
  • Provide constructive feedback to internal Udacity product teams to help make the classroom experience and service product offerings engaging, educational, and exciting for students.
  • Help source data and analysis needed to identify and implement changes that will improve student outcomes.
