Overview

Vox Media runs eight influential media brands—including Vox.com, the Verge, SBNation, and Eater—that engage hundreds of millions of people with high quality storytelling and experiences across many platforms.

How we build and share this content requires our Product team to understand the contributors who shape it, the audiences who consume it, and the landscape in which we operate. We use surveys, interviews, loads of data, usability tests, and more to study people, products, and the marketplace to understand the context in which our work lives. This research determines product decisions and strategies, shapes feature designs, and influences the user experience.

We’re looking for a part-time Research Intern to assist our Product team with this work over the  summer of 2017. Our ideal candidate is a skilled listener and excellent communicator who’s able to make detailed observations and connect the dots to form a story. This intern will work under our senior user researcher and with stakeholders and editorial teams all over the company to inform product development, strategy, and a general understanding of Vox Media’s staff, audience, and competitors.

Research Interns for the Vox Product team will:

  • Draft, create, send, and analyze surveys
  • Recruit interview subjects
  • Interview customers remotely and in-person
  • Run usability tests
  • Analyze data in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Share well-written, clearly formatted research findings
  • Collaborate
  • Embracing the beginner’s mind

About working at Vox Media: This is a paid, part-time position without benefits. Interns will work up to twenty hours a week and be paid $20 an hour. We encourage candidates of all experience levels to apply. If the above doesn’t describe you perfectly, please get in touch anyway and tell us why you want to work with us.

Vox Media is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a safe, inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. Everyone is encouraged to apply, including women, LGBTQ people, people of color, and people with disabilities.
