Overview

As a Technical Engagement Manager at Chef, you are a team player focused on keeping all aspects of transactional consulting engagements on schedule and unblocked.  This includes expertise in scoping consulting services, resourcing and managing pre-planning communications, actively monitoring activities as services are delivered by multiple consultants in multiple locations, and finally executing post-engagement tasks to document successes and collect metrics for analysis and future improvements.

The right candidate for this role is comfortable managing our Chef consultants and Chef partners who are delivering services, skilled at defusing issues that come up when unforeseen challenges confront consultants on-site, and is an excellent technical writer who can both quality check products as well as provide feedback to authors to improve work products.  Your ability to manage and prioritize “on the fly” as needed to interface with sales, services, vendors, and clients is vital to your success. You are encouraged to stretch your talents; your input will be welcomed as we work together to improve operational discipline for our many ongoing internal initiatives and services effectiveness in a fast-paced startup environment.

This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in an incredibly fast growing business, as part of our Customer Success Group.  This position can be executed from anywhere in the US, so if you are awesome, apply from where you are.  Limited travel on occasion, not to exceed 25%.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing Consulting Services Engagements
    • Scope work based on desired outcomes of client
    • Collaborate with consulting resources, both vendor and house staff, to meet requirements of SOW on time and budget
    • Review weekly status reports and final deliverables to client
    • Conduct customer satisfaction interviews to log and track overall, aggregate customer happiness
  • Supporting Service Operations
    • Participate in special projects and/or complete other duties as assigned.
    • Support monthly reporting cycles
    • Draft and update service offerings
    • Manage resource placement activities
    • Collaborate with other internal teams to share updates and gather feedback to improve service delivery

Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task and manage overlapping projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment, with a team-player mentality and high level of grace & professionalism
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to follow through on issue resolution.
  • Ability to work independently to meet project requirements with minimal supervision in a global, remote and growing team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills & ability to listen and read between the lines
  • Ability to distill feedback and requirements to actionable items
  • Self-drive and strong bias toward execution and getting things done
  • A professional, outgoing and energetic, yet flexible attitude to the job

Required Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in Project Management or Consulting

Desired Experience:

  • Experience working at a consulting firm
  • Experience working at a software product company
  • Experience working remotely and/or with distributed team
  • Experience working with salesforce.com
