Overview

Our goal at Apollo is to make professional application development teams faster and more productive. As a developer tools company, we rely on written content in all aspects of our operation, and in fact our tools couldn’t be used at all if they weren’t well documented. Education is the main way we help people use Apollo and empower developers to achieve their goals.

In this role, you’ll work with engineers and product managers across the company to write, edit, and maintain the most critical written content Apollo produces, which is relied on by many thousands of developers every day. This includes the documentation for all of our tools and products, end-to-end educational experiences that help people get off the ground and build applications, blog content on one of the most popular developer tools blogs in the world, and more.

People consistently cite our content and documentation as one of the main reasons they chose Apollo for their projects, and we want you to help us take that success to the next level.

What you’ll do

  • Collect information about development practices from the Apollo team and community, and convert them into guides and articles that empower developers.
  • Write end-to-end tutorials that enable people to use our technologies.
  • Review and accept community contributions to our open source documentation sites.
  • Own, grow, and maintain Apollo’s primary avenues of communication with developers, including documentation, READMEs, and tutorials.
  • Work one-on-one with prominent content authors in the community on training courses, blog articles, and more across different education sites like Egghead, Lynda, CSS tricks, and O’Reilly.
  • Work with developers to learn what content and materials they are missing, and come up with initiatives to produce and improve that content.

About you

  • You deeply care about the success and happiness of application developers around the world.
  • You love teaching, sharing, and producing materials that help people achieve their goals.
  • You enjoy writing and editing independently and with others.
  • You care about the details, and love publishing polished content that you can be proud of.
  • You’ve got enough technical background in React, JavaScript, Node.js, and related technologies to understand the day-to-day work of application developers, and can learn to use Apollo tools and products to build small projects.
  • You can turn around content on a schedule, and scope work down so that we get the right message across in a concise and efficient way.
  • You’ve written documentation, tutorials, or other technical writing in the past.
