Job summary

The Red Hat Public Sector Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a Middleware Technical Account Manager to join us in the Western U.S. In this role, you will offer enterprise customers the deepest possible technical relationship with Red Hat JBoss Middleware in order to maximize their return on a significant investment in this technology. You’ll provide a consistent technical point of contact, learning to understand the ongoing technology requirements of our customers. You’ll cultivate highly personalized support relationships with clients and gain understanding of their IT infrastructures, internal processes, and overall business needs. You’ll tailor support for the customer environments, advocate on their behalf, and facilitate collaboration with their other vendors. As a Middleware Technical Account Manager, you will also help debug, quantify, and test issues escalated by customers for the entire Red Hat JBoss Middleware family of solutions and you’ll partner closely with associates in our Engineering R&D, Product Management, and Global Support teams to resolve issues and build relationships.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Perform technical reviews and share knowledge to identify and prevent issues
  • Gain understanding of the technical infrastructures, environments, hardware, and solutions of our customers
  • Perform initial or secondary investigations and respond to online and phone support requests
  • Deliver key Red Hat JBoss Middleware portfolio roadmap updates and assist customers with upgrades
  • Provide advice and guidance to customers about their current and future Red Hat JBoss Middleware solutions
  • Manage customer cases and maintain clear and concise case documentation
  • Advocate for customers within Red Hat
  • Travel as needed to visit customers

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related discipline; computer science or engineering is preferred
  • 5+ years of professional Java and JEE coding experience in a commercial environment
  • Deep knowledge of the JEE platform
  • Practical experience with the Java application platform and application server technologies like Red Hat JBoss Middleware, IBM WebSphere, and Oracle WebLogic
  • Solid understanding of Java programming APIs and popular Java frameworks
  • Experience with support, development, engineering, or quality assurance
  • Proven ability and willingness to learn new open source middleware technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and projects while maintaining a high level of detail
  • Ability to effectively manage and grow existing enterprise customer and partner relationships by delivering excellent support
  • Active US security clearance is an advantage
  • Experience in public sector is a plus
