Shopify Plus has a support system that is built to give fast and reliable support for our Shopify Plus merchants 24/7. As a Developer Support Specialist, you’re an integral part of the white glove support in this organization.

A perfect match for this role is someone who has great troubleshooting and analytical skills, loves mastering new things, and has a curious mind for how things work and what makes them tick. With Plus becoming more and more differentiated with their extensive feature set, merchants’ reliance on third-party custom technologies, and a growing number of internal product offerings, we are looking for individuals that can help take the third party support experience to the next level.

The purpose of this team is to provide direct support for a range of third party developers as they build on Shopify’s APIs and other developer tools.

You’ll also be supporting developers who are working with our Shopify Plus merchants, acting as their trusted partner on the inside.  Shopify Plus merchants encounter unique problems due to their large-scale, high-GMV, as well as the context of the Shopify Plus ecosystem at Shopify.

In this role, you’ll be expected to develop and apply an understanding of the following areas:

  • Admin API (Rest & GraphQL)
  • Gift Card API
  • JS Buy SDK
  • Buy Button.js and Buy Button Channel
  • Webhooks
  • Environment management
  • Multipass
  • Storefront API
  • Application Proxies
  • HostedPayments SDK

Who are we looking for?

  • You have a track record of exceptional customer-facing service experience
  • You thrive on taking ownership for larger technical issues and seeing them through to a resolution
  • You are invested in our merchants’ success and are eager to jump on a call with a Shopify Plus merchant or developer to explain what is happening with an issue or to collect more information for your investigation
  • You are an advocate for merchants and their developers when working with internal Shopify developers
  • You are a lifelong learner, and pick up new concepts or tools quickly

It would be great if you have:

  • Development skills and technical depth to answer questions, troubleshoot and problem solve unique problems with third-party developers
  • The ability to explain products, features, and functionality with technical accuracy and simplicity
  • Experience with server-side web application development with Ruby, Python, PHP, or Node.js
  • Experience with client-side development with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience working with web APIs & SDKs, both REST and GraphQL
  • Proficiency with Splunk (Rails logs) and SQL (databases) to help you find out exactly what happened or what is happening with a particular situation
