GitHub is changing the way the world builds software and we want you to help change the way we build GitHub! We’re looking for a software engineer to join a passionate, collaborative, distributed group of engineers working on planet-scale products.
How do you define engineering productivity? Can the data we produce while engineering teach us something important about how well we’re doing as a team, organization, or community?
The Insights team at GitHub is developing products to help our users better understand engineering patterns and processes. We have an ambitious roadmap and some unique engineering challenges coming up. We’re looking for an engineer to help us get to the next level!
Responsibilities:
- Be a core contributor of code on a small team of engineers working across the stack
- Coordinate with engineering and product leads to help define, prioritize, and task projects that help us meet business objectives
- Help with code reviews and other collaborative practices to empower the team as a whole
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least three years building single-page web applications in production, with frameworks like React or Angular.
- Knowledge of CSS best practices for large codebases.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL.
- At least three years of experience translating product requirements, wireframes, and designs into code.
- Knowledge of testing principles
- Strong communication skills — you speak and write clearly. Weโre a distributed team so weโre extra mindful about communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with React
- Data visualization experience and/or experience dealing with UI scaling challenges
- Experience building Go applications
- General database knowledge
- Experience working remotely in a distributed company
