Do you keep up-to-date on the latest social media trends? Daydream about how to generate social buzz that drives engagement? Find yourself explaining the difference between a mention and retweet? We’re seeking an ambitious social media manager to help expand and manage our social media channels, which currently have over 900,000 fans and followers. As a Social Media Manager with Upwork, you would help craft our voice on high-profile channels, evolving our efforts, and working with a cross-function team including marketing, sales, product, engineering, and customer support.

Responsibilities:

  • You will lead our social media editorial calendar, including writing and posting.
  • Working closely with partners, you will amplify PR, marketing, sales, and operations campaigns via social media.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of our employee advocacy program.
  • You will stay current with the latest social trends and technical changes, and strategize fresh and creative ways to optimize our post straegy and generate buzz to help drive our company’s growth.
  • You will be hands-on with our community to build dynamic channels that foster balanced discussion.
  • Collaborating with our customer support team, you will identify and escalate customer issues, including refining practices and training.
  • As a partner to product marketing, you will work to refine messaging for new features and policy changes and train the moderation team on responses.
  • You will surface community reaction and feedback to hot button issues and work across departments to ensure social needs are taken into account in responses.

How to catch our eye:

  • Professional experience running business pages on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram and developing social / online campaigns that spark buzz.
  • Self-starter attitude, including the ability to work independently on a variety of hands-on projects with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding writing ability and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven background working remotely in a dynamic environment and juggling varied priorities across multiple stakeholders, including a sense of urgency and eagerness to be in touch that is a fit for the 24×7 nature of social channels.
  • Real passion for social media and an active user of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Sound judgement when handling challenging customer issues.
  • Professional mindset when representing yourself and company, online and offline.
  • Experience with Vimeo and SlideShare a plus.
  • Tools: Social tools like Buffer, Tweetdeck, and Lithium Response, communication and productivity tools like Gmail, Google Docs and Slack, and the ability and interest to pick up new software platforms quickly.
