Job summary

The Red Hat JBoss Middleware Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you will concentrate on bug fixes, feature enhancements, and integration for Red Hat’s business process management (BPM) and business rules platform offerings, the Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite and Red Hat JBoss BRMS. You’ll be responsible for working with project committers and the product team to define the scope and schedule. Building on Red Hat’s release process and best practices, you will contribute to continual improvements to our sustaining efforts. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll also participate in a vibrant open source culture and help with product process and quality improvement initiatives.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with our support staff to diagnose and resolve bugs found and provide sustaining updates to fielded BRMS and BPM platform versions of our offerings
  • Promote increasing stability in product sustaining streams by fixing bugs, improving unit tests and ensuring that relevant documentation is correct, comprehensive, and understandable
  • Contribute to innovative open source enterprise middleware projects
  • Propose and implement new functionality based on analysis of customer requirements, industry trends, and competitive offerings
  • Create new offerings based on open source projects that are designed and packaged for enterprise IT use
  • Provide support to our enterprise customer base by implementing customer bug fixes, enhancements, and new feature requests

Required skills

  • Expertise in enterprise Java
  • Detailed understanding of software development methodology
  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience with rules (Drools) or BPM (jBPM) is a big plus
  • Experience with open source is a plus
