Overview
About the Team
We are looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join the Proactive Security team at DoorDash. As part of the Proactive Security organization within Trust & Safety, the mission is to drive proactive security by building tools and systems, and to identify, protect, and mitigate against security threats to our platform before they cause harm. This role is on the Platform team, which is responsible for owning the security platform strategy to deliver secure-by-default, self-service solutions at scale, reducing reliance on point-in-time reviews and long-lived credentials. If you are passionate about securing the platforms that enable our business and want to have real impact on products used by millions of people, this role is for you.
About the Role
The Proactive Security Platform team’s mission is to enable secure-by-default engineering at DoorDash, focusing on identity, privileged access, and secrets management for critical infrastructure. As a Senior Security Engineer on the Platform team, you will design and build paved paths and tooling for authentication, authorization, and secrets lifecycle management across DoorDash’s platform. You will own the technical strategy and execution of major security initiatives, ensuring they are delivered at scale while balancing engineering velocity and security rigor.
You will work closely with Platform, Infrastructure, and Product engineering teams to build secure-by-default solutions, driving adoption of strong identity controls and secrets management practices. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud-native security architecture, identity and access management, and secure software development practices.
We expect this position to be filled by 12/30/2026.
You’re Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will…
- Design, build, and own secure-by-default platforms and tooling for privileged access, secrets management, and identity across DoorDash’s platform, including DoorDash Access Platform, Teleport, and HashiCorp Vault
- Build paved paths that make secure behavior the easiest path for engineering teams, reducing friction while raising the security bar
- Threat model and secure tier-0 services, driving architecture reviews and security design decisions for critical infrastructure
- Drive migration away from long-lived credentials toward short-lived, ephemeral access patterns
- Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls into developer workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code
- Define and track security metrics that demonstrate the impact of platform investments on risk reduction
- Mentor other security engineers and contribute to the team’s technical direction and engineering excellence
We’re Excited About You Because…
- You have 5+ years of experience in security engineering, with a focus on platform security, identity and access management, or infrastructure security
- You have deep expertise in identity and access management, including authentication protocols (OIDC, OAuth, SAML), authorization models, and privileged access management
- You have hands-on experience with secrets management platforms such as HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or similar, and with secure credential lifecycle management
- You have experience building and operating security platforms or tooling in a cloud-native environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- You have strong software engineering skills in Go, Python, or similar languages, with experience building production services and tooling
- You have experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
- You have a strong understanding of threat modeling, security architecture, and secure system design
- You have experience driving cross-functional security initiatives and influencing engineering teams without direct authority
- You have excellent communication skills and can articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- You have experience with on-call rotations and incident response for security services
