Overview
GitHub is looking for an experienced and technically savvy Product Manager to help bring a keen product sensibility and sharp customer/market focus to several strategically vital projects within GitHubโs Infrastructure organization.
The Infrastructure organization at GitHub is responsible for all the underlying infrastructure that powers the github.com website, which supports over 24 million users, and houses around 70 million software repositories.
You will collaborate with a team of Infrastructure Engineering Managers, Designers, and Engineers to plan and lead strategic product initiatives that enable us to serve our users better and move the business forward. You will define the strategic goals of each product that your organization builds, create a roadmap that balances ambition and pragmatism in pursuit of those goals, and come up with thoughtfully crafted metrics and well-defined milestones to track progress towards those goals. You will manage the communication of progress on these products to stakeholders, and help with ย tailoring the messaging and go-to-market initiatives built around these new product lines. In short, you will be the go-to person on the progress of these highly visible projects. You love building ambitious infrastructure products that will significantly change the way developers go about their work, and doing it in the company of smart people who will keep you on your toes.
This is an IC position with significant growth potential.
Responsibilities:
- Articulate and influence Product strategy for all Infrastructure projects, with a uncompromising focus on business objectives, product-market fit, and customer experience
- Create and own the strategic roadmap for the Infrastructure organization.
- Break down large projects into granular milestones and track progress on them
- Develop effective metrics for how the product performs
- Serve as the Product spokesperson for Infrastructure
- Help with Marketing and GTM initiatives around Infrastructure products
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of product management experience managing highly technical products in technology oriented companies
- Strong analytical skills and a passion for numbers
- Strong written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building products focused on the developer workflows
- Knowledge and experience with containers and micro-services
