To support our Mobile First product strategy, we’re hiring a React Native Engineer on the Suite Users Team to help us continuously iterate upon the features of our mobile application. We’re looking for a driven, organized, self-reliant engineer that is excited about developing using React Native and about taking ownership of and delivering features. You will be part of the team focused on building the features that are used by users across the various products in the Mattermost Suite. While hands-on working experience with React Native is highly preferred, if you are an experienced React.js front-end engineer eager to move into the mobile space, you may be a good fit for us as well.

Responsibilities:

  • You will serve as a core committer and a technical leader of React Native written in TypeScript and possibly leveraging, native modules for Android (Java) and iOS (Swift/Objective-C)
  • You will take ownership of a set of features, delivering and iterating on their improvement
  • You’ll work with UX designers, QA engineers, and Product Managers to understand, test, and prioritize feature and their delivery
  • You’ll review other engineers’ code
  • Your end-users will use your products to work on some of the world’s most mission-critical endeavours, from space exploration to fighting COVID, to transforming the future of electric transportation, and protecting the financial assets of our global economy
  • You’ll do all this with your personal GitHub account, and you will publish the vast majority of your work as open-source and be able to share it with the world for the rest of your career

Required Background/Skills:

  • 2+ years of professional experience developing production apps with React and/or React Native
  • Meaningful experience working on large, complex projects
  • Ability to take ownership over your work. Every day you must ensure you are performing to the expectations you and your team have agreed upon, both in regard to estimates and to the general process
  • An understanding of React and React Native best practices
  • Ability to create and maintain continuous integration and delivery of React Native applications
  • English skills (ability to effectively communicate via written and spoken English)
