Overview

The care and feeding of massive data sets created from live, constantly changing production systems is a tough problem in and of itself. Add the need to deliver the data set with complete integrity, in a timely manner, without impacting the production system’s performance or availability and you’ve got a real challenge. Layer on the need to build predictive models to accurately estimate how long this operation will take with a high level of confidence across vastly divergent data shapes and sizes.

Oh yeah, did we mention that we do this successfully thousands of times per week, every week? We don’t do it alone, the Sandbox team works closely with many others, from our customers to those in the operational data centers and many in between. An integral part of the copy operation is capturing numerous data points from the compute and storage tiers to be able to better analyze the impact on the multi-tenant customer Sandbox environments.

Do you like to solve tough problems, build data analysis tools using the new machine or deep learning algorithms, crunch billions of data points, create resilient, asynchronous, and long running solutions? Can your code run for days, respond gracefully to automated or manual intervention, survive rolling soft restarts and pick up where it left off? Ours needs to, and we need your help to deliver it.

This position will require extensive cross team collaboration as the portfolio of solutions you deliver will impact a myriad of internal teams and most importantly, provide a valuable service for our customers.

As the senior member of the Sandbox team you’ll use your passion for software development to consistently make an impact. We use a lot of familiar tools and technologies such as Java and SQL to build multi-tiered, multi-tenant, scalable applications. We believe that if you’re a full stack software engineer and you’re smart then you’re capable of learning new languages and technologies. Bonus points for having worked with Machine Learning, Big Data, PredictionIO, API design and of course anything “cloud”.
