Overview

GitHub Education launched in 2012 with the mission of empowering student developers. Six years later, the program has enabled 1 million students to learn to code with real-world tools. The team has grown to accommodate the needs of university students, bootcamp learners and teachers at all levels.

Now we seek a key role on the team to unlock the network effects of GitHub Education–a Partner Manager who will own the relationship with schools, education partners and technology partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Field inbound queries, liaise with the customer contract terms to technical implementation.
  • Work with sales operations to generate license keys, acquire assets from the customer and update marketing materials.
  • Hold quarterly check-ins with the customer, both to ensure compliance but also work on opportunities for growth.
  • Continually improve the process for efficiency and to a high degree of excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Project management pro: nothing slips through the cracks, and you follow up on follow up
  • Passion for version control: you understand the value of GitHub for education and can explain that in a compelling way to stakeholders
  • Empathy for developers: a background in software development is not required, but you will come up with new ways of applying Git and GitHub and coach technical contacts through the process
  • Negotiation skills: you know how to craft a win/win contract, and optimize to help the most people possible
  • Manage customer relationships: you have a friendly but firm approach, your contacts like working with you, but you can hold them accountable to terms
  • Experience in sales at an enterprise level: you know the typical process, but you want to work in education
  • Independence: you can set your own deadlines, checkpoints and iterate on processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching background: you can vouch from classroom experience
  • Participate in underserved communities: the next generation of developers who learn on GitHub will change technology, and you are connected to those people
  • Experience with asynchronous teams: we live, talk and type all over the world
  • An in-depth understanding of the educational technology landscape
