Overview

We are a diverse team from around the world working together on a mission to make DuckDuckGo the world’s most trusted search engine, and we want your help!

Join us as a Partnerships & Business Development Manager and become part of the team focused on expanding our user base and improving our product through strategic alliances.

As part of our growing team, you will be collaborating with team members and external partners to support the company’s objectives. Examples of projects you might work on include navigating existing partners to create new opportunities, identifying new opportunities to increase distribution, negotiating custom deals that help us reach our user acquisition goals, partnering with companies to increase Instant Answer coverage and related operational aspects (such as understanding the knobs associated with our revenue, monitoring our ads).

We are a remote company, meaning our employees can work wherever they want around the world. We empower our team to be self-directed and self-motivated in their projects. If that seems awesome and you like the idea of our core values — Build trust, Question assumptions, and Validate direction — you’ll fit right in.

What you will do:

  • Manage, strengthen and create opportunities with existing partners.
  • Identify, evaluate and create new partnerships including modeling opportunities and building business cases, to support company wide objectives.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and oversee the drafting of legal agreements with partners.
  • Carry opportunities from sourcing to execution, by getting buy-in from internal stakeholders, and driving projects from conception to completion.

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in business development roles and managing partnerships.
  • Proven experience managing and navigating customer relationships at large, complex organizations.
  • Exceptional business development and partner management track record.
  • Exceptional ability to deliver strategic and nuanced positioning to existing and potential partners.
  • Excellence in understanding and overcoming challenging objections.
  • Outstanding organization skills and ability to manage several projects at once.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and modeling skills.
  • Ability to lead and work cross-functionally across the company.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Due to the nature of this role, the applicant should ideally be located in North America and expect 10-20% travel for partner meetings, etc.

Other things to know:

  • We are a small, remote team in different time zones and communicate with a variety of tools throughout the day. You should feel comfortable with the intricacies of this type of work situation.
  • Sometimes we meet up! You can expect to travel at least 2x a year: once for our all-hands meetup and another for a team retreat (each ~4-5 days).
  • We want to have a major impact on raising the standard of trust online. To do this we believe in a focused approach, with company-wide objectives, and with each team member working on a single top priority at a time.
  • Our work philosophy is built upon empowered project management. All team members have opportunities to run projects.
  • All projects are run transparently, and we encourage everyone to participate in areas of interest throughout the company. Anyone and everyone can (and should) ask questions and offer feedback around the product and internal projects.
  • We try to exemplify our values (build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction) in everything we do.
