Overview
Talent Development (TD) is an HR team that provides learning and development for all Shopifolk at different stages during life at Shopify! TD programs include Onboarding (a program for new hires in their first 3 months), Boost (for all individual contributors), and Lead Level Up (for first time leads within Shopify).
The programs within TD are a collaborative team effort with Program Managers (who stay highly attuned to their audience’s needs and most pressing learning opportunities) Trainers and Learning Designers (who focus on building, curating and delivering), Coaches (who offer 1:1 coaching to the different audiences), and TD Ops (who provide marketing, operation and logistic support).
We’re evolving, and we’re seeking a Leadership Development Program Manager to oversee leadership development strategy for Leads, Leads of Leads and Directors at Shopify.
The Program Manager will liaise with Shopify’s Sr Leadership team to understand the needs and oversee the strategy for Leadership development to inform learning offerings within Lead Level Up and Director Level Up. This role would rely on a working team across Talent Development (and through subject matter experts in the business) to assist in the execution of program design, delivery, & awareness. This will only be possible with a Program Manager who can build high trust relationships across the business so that their vision is understood and delivered on at scale. This includes staying curious about the latest and greatest experiential, social and formal learning approaches in leadership development combined with a deep understanding of our unique culture.
What We’re Looking For:
A day in the life of this Program Manager will be exciting and fast-paced with lots of communication between our team, the Sr Leadership team, and other learning & development teams. You’ll need the ability to continually align your programs to the most high impact skills needed for our leaders, our mission and vision, and the larger learning ecosystem. You can juggle lots of things at once and are totally cool with shifting priorities in an ever-changing environment. You’ll need to exercise a growth mindset in your approach so that you are leading by example with the execution of your program strategy and always on the lookout for new information to make your program better. Your working team will be located across multiple offices so connecting with them often will be crucial.
You’ll need to:
- Model a growth mindset
- Actively build relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of the TD team including with the executive team
- Influence Sr Leadership on the best practices to provide learning solutions that lead to high performance
- Develop and deliver on the program strategy in alignment with Talent Development goals
- Build, maintain and manage programs; collecting and analyzing needs to determine goals and priorities, balancing between iterative improvements, new projects and shipping long term enhancements.
- Collect data and analyze results to continually improve ongoing programs
- Provide guidance and direction to those that build and deliver Leadership Development
- Consider the different needs of specific locations and teams, while keeping offerings broad enough to address the needs of the wider audience
- Be super organized – for yourself and for your team
- Communicate superbly – 1 to 1, 1 to many; in person and remotely
- Make every team you are part of better
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience building Leadership Development programs in a fast paced environment
- Experience designing, developing and delivering kick ass training programs
- Experience building global training programs
- Experience in applying experiential learning principles into programs
