Overview
About us
Kialo – the world’s largest discussion platform – was founded in 2011 to offer an alternative to the often toxic, confrontational, and intellectually isolating state of online discourse. In 2019, we launched Kialo Edu as a platform designed to teach students how to discuss issues with logic, self-reflection, and civility while making life easier for educators. At Kialo Edu, we believe that visualizing argumentation helps students think critically and focusing on reason helps students practice civil disagreement. In this way, we ultimately hope to make the world a more thoughtful place. That is why Kialo Edu is free and always will be.
Are you passionate about education and looking for an opportunity to make a global impact? We’re on the hunt for a talented and driven Education Outreach Associate to join our dynamic and diverse global team at Kialo. This is a unique chance to play a pivotal role in expanding our outreach efforts, forging meaningful partnerships, and driving growth for our innovative educational platform. We’re especially excited to hear from current or former educators who are eager to leverage their classroom expertise to help Kialo Edu flourish.
To set you up for success, you’ll begin with a comprehensive six-week training period where you’ll learn the ins and outs of our platform, develop essential skills, and get hands-on experience in how Kialo discussions evolve.
Your role
Once trained, you’ll be at the forefront of our outreach efforts, taking on responsibilities such as:
– Developing and executing global marketing strategies to promote Kialo Edu.
– Managing content creation across social media, blogs, and other channels to increase brand awareness.
– Identifying potential partners and developing effective strategies to build meaningful relationships with educational institutions and edtech companies.
– Delivering engaging presentations tailored to diverse audiences to effectively introduce Kialo Edu and its capabilities.
– Representing Kialo Edu at conferences and events to grow our network and influence.
– Collecting user and partner feedback to refine our platform and strategies.
Location and eligibility
– While this is a remote role, you’ll be working with a team primarily based in Europe. To allow for reasonable coordination, there is a preference for candidates located in an ET timezone. There may be the occasional need for coordination slightly outside standard working hours.
– As our work involves a certain amount of travel for conferences and events, it’s important that you be able to travel, within Northern America, approximately 6-8 times per year.
What we’re looking for
To excel in this role, you should have:
– Fluency in English, with excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
– A Bachelor’s degree or higher.
– At least two years of experience in education (preferably in a classroom setting) or educational technology.
– A creative, results-driven approach to developing outreach solutions.
– Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
– A knack for building and maintaining strategic relationships.
– High attention to detail and an ability to critique your own work.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
– Experience with education industry marketing or outreach, including social media.
– Expertise in planning and executing trade show and conference participation.
– A working knowledge of website and branding design.
– Remote work experience.
– Proficiency in a second language.
What we offer
– Open-ended employment contract (subject to successful 3 month probationary period) or the option of a long-term contractor arrangement. We are flexible on which of these options best suits your needs, and pay contractor loading, as reflected in the compensation information below.
– Reasonable flexibility in working hours.
– Remote working.
– Healthcare cover.
– Negotiable industry standard leave entitlement.
Compensation
– Our starting rate is between 33 USD/hr and 39.50USD/hr for contractors, depending on experience. As we pay contractor loading, an employment relationship will reduce this commensurate with the associated benefits. Final salary will be contingent on contract requirements and hours worked. We ask for a minimum of 30hrs/week commitment.
To apply, submit your résumé and a short piece – between 300 and 500 words – of argumentative writing.
– Successful applicants will be invited to a short pre-screen video interview so we can get to know you (and you, us!) a little better (approximately 15 min).
– If shortlisted, we will ask you to give a short presentation – 5 mins – on an edtech tool of your choosing, followed by some interview questions. This usually lasts around 1-1.5hr.
