About the Role

General Assembly seeks a Junior Designer to join our in-house creative team, housed at GA headquarters in New York. This position reports to the Visual Brand Lead and falls under the Content Team, which is tasked with storytelling across marketing, product, and brand collateral.

As a junior designer on this team, you’ll be responsible for supporting the Visual Design Lead in developing and implementing General Assembly’s brand guidelines. You’ll dive headfirst into understanding our mission, products, and strategy and then use that insight to help create holistic design solutions for a multitude of applications including print, environmental, and digital assets.

This is a part-time, freelance position. While remote work is a possibility, preference goes to candidates who are available to join the team at our NYC office for brainstorms, meetings, etc. as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with members of the creative department (including Copy,
  • Video, Product Design, and Marketing Design) and various business stakeholders.
  • Follow direction from the Design Lead and take feedback from Senior Designers and peers
  • Design digital, print, and environmental graphics, including icons, illustrations, and infographics.
  • Prepare files for for a multitude of uses including website, email, and social media.
  • Design Keynote and PDF templates for presentations and documents.
  • Retouch and edit photos as needed.
  • Maintain and uphold the Design Brand Guidelines in all applications

Qualifications/Skills

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or closely related field
  • 1-3 years professional experience in graphic design
  • Strong sense of typography, composition, and color
  • Strong form-making skills (iconography, illustration, infographics)
  • Fluency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Google Apps
  • Familiarity with Keynote/Powerpoint is a plus
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
