Overview

Rackspace is looking for senior systems engineers/hackers/automators to help automate and deliver the next generation of Rackspace security products. As a member of the Defensive Infrastructure team in Rackspace Managed Security(RMS) you will participate in projects that bind various customer environments together with innovative security related products. The role you will play will help define a solid enterprise system that will change the face of Rackspace managed services.

Working in Rackspace Managed Security, you will be automating/monitoring/testing and deploying security products that are part of the foundational software systems critical to running RMS in any cloud or environment. As a result, you will have an opportunity to work on a high impact, high visibility team that will take fanatical support to new heights.

Responsible for architectural design and development of hardware, software, and the networking systems. Provides an architectural framework for system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts. Implements standards and guidelines. Analyzes systems and performance usability testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements. Keeps informed of emerging technologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of MIS objectives and strategies.
  • Advanced technical knowledge in technology methodologies, design, and implementation. Excellent analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level.
  • Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • PCโ€™s, hardware equipment, various database and software applications, and networking systems.
  • Responsible for moderately complex architectural design and development of hardware, software and networking systems.
  • Analyzes systems and determines business requirements.
  • Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance.
  • Keeps informed of new technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science.
  • Usually requires 4-5 years of information systems architecture and project management experience.
