What does the Human Resources Specialist do?

Our team is critical to our success. The Human Resources Specialist will play a big part in sourcing and recruiting the right candidates to help our team grow efficiently and effectively. This ranges from working with management to identify hiring needs, the responsibilities of creating and maintaining job postings, vetting candidates, and scheduling interviews.

In addition to bringing on the best team members, we want to make sure we are setting them up for success. The role of the HR Specialist will include onboarding individuals and serving as a point of contact for any questions they may have.

The ideal candidate for this position should have an entrepreneurial mindset, and be ready to take on and initiate new projects as he or she sees the need arise.

What’s it like to work on the Student Loan Hero team?

Student Loan Hero is a fully remote team. We have team members all over the world, in cities including NYC, Austin, Portland, Santiago, and St. Petersburg.

Since we’re literally all over the map, communication using Slack, Gmail, Google Hangouts, and other tools is key for us. Don’t worry—you won’t be alone. We communicate regularly throughout the day.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 3-5+ years of related Human Resources experience
• Experience in sourcing candidates and high volume recruiting
• Self-starter with the ability and desire to work under limited supervision
• Strong project management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of employment-related laws and practices
• Previous experience working in start-up and/or tech environment preferred
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
