Overview

We’re hiring an engineering manager/full-stack Rails engineer to manage direct reports and pioneer new assessment types that fundamentally alter the way kids learn. This is the same job as Rails or Full-Stack Engineer, except you’ll spend around 20-30% of your time managing a few direct reports instead of working on full-stack development.

This could be a good fit for you if you’re passionate about disrupting education and looking for a meaningful role on a small team. You’ll have competitive compensation, all the hardware your heart desires, and fantastic benefits. More importantly, you’ll be doing work that really matters, and nearly every code push you do will directly affect massive numbers of students, teachers, and parents all over the world.

Requirements

  • You have at least 3 years of professional experience as a software developer or equivalent knowledge
  • You have at least 2 years of experience as an engineering manager. If you don’t meet the management requirement, please check our Full-Stack Engineer job post!
  • You are experienced and comfortable with backend and/or full-stack engineering
  • You’re comfortable with Linux or OSX and MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • You value code quality and well tested code
  • You can be your own DBA including setup, optimization and troubleshooting
  • You are comfortable either working remotely, or commuting to our office in San Francisco.
  • You’re excited about working with Elixir and Elm

Don’t worry if you’re unsure about which engineer position to apply to. Mention it on your cover letter and we’ll place you on the right interviewing track.
