Overview

FFAA is seeking a Digital Specialist to start by October 1, 2017. The Digital Specialist should be an individual who is deeply committed to advancing LGBTQ equality and LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections and who has a desire to soon be an expert in all facets of cutting-edge digital campaigning.

The Digital Specialist will work with the Chief Digital Engagement Officer and the Director of Digital Programs and Partnerships to develop blog, email and social content for an array of digital properties and brands – including Freedom for All Americans, Mayors Against LGBT Discrimination, America Competes, and as many as 10 key state campaigns across the country working to advance nondiscrimination on state-level ballot, legislative and public education efforts. In this position, you’ll be on the front lines of rapid response, content development and storytelling – working to develop the voice and narrative for many of the most important campaigns in the LGBTQ movement.

The Digital Specialist will grow and maintain email programs, social media campaigns, online fundraising pushes and digital storytelling efforts. The Digital Specialist is an entry-level, full time position and reports to the Chief Digital Engagement Officer. REQUIREMENTS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors the nondiscrimination landscape across the country and quickly develops blog copy for Freedom for All Americans and priority state campaigns that succinctly, concisely, and accessibly explains breaking news and developments
  • Drafts powerful emails – for Freedom for All Americans and state campaigns – that mobilize supporters to donate and participate in high-priority advocacy actions
  • Assists in executing comprehensive, impactful social media campaigns for Freedom for All Americans and state campaigns
  • Helps drives the digital storytelling narrative for Freedom for All Americans and key states by identifying compelling messengers and drafting stories for the website, blog, and social media, highlighting the depth of support for LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections nationwide
  • Helps manage multiple CRM (customer/constituent relationship management) systems for Freedom for All Americans, including coding emails, building action pages, overseeing membership lists and other functions as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate will have a/an:

  • Deep commitment to advancing LGBTQ equality and nondiscrimination protections
  • Strong writing ability, with demonstrated experience mastering rigorous messaging guidelines
  • Experience with CRMs like Blue State Digital and EveryAction or an aptitude to quickly learn new technologies
  • Experience and interest in implementing social media campaigns
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and remain flexible on multiple, high-paced campaigns
  • Attention to measurable results
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work occasional nights and weekends as needed
  • Some professional experience in managing campaign email programs, including drafting copy and setting overall strategy is a plus
  • Willingness to travel as needed

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the U.S. Candidates must be able to work from home and feel comfortable frequently engaging with colleagues and partners by phone, video conference, email, and other digital communications tools.

This position requires some travel, including at least 4 quarterly staff retreats and ad hoc campaign meetings.
