Overview

As a Developer Advocate at GitHub, you’ll work to ensure that those creating tools and services using GitHub’s API as a platform have a first class experience. You’ll be tasked with building and growing deep relationships, clear communication channels, and a meaningful community among these integrators. You’ll make it easier and more delightful to build using GitHub’s API and further the success of GitHub’s ecosystem. You’ll work closely with a team of engineers, designers, and product managers building our platform to champion the needs of those building upon it.

Responsibilities:

With and for these integrators and API developers, you’ll:

  • Communicate changes and news surrounding our platform
  • Build and manage clear inbound communication channels
  • Work closely to resolve issues
  • Encourage best practices and work flows for using our API
  • Foster and facilitate a community among integrators
  • Champion the creation and maintenance of resources
  • Share our platform through blogging, speaking, writing and other similar activities
  • Gather, share, and advocate for integrator feedback, trends, and needs in internal engineering and product decisions

Requirements:

  • Experience working with third-party developers in an advocacy role demonstrating strong empathy
  • Engineering experience working on the backend of a web application at scale
  • Experience building APIs
  • Proficiency in at least one dynamic and one static language
  • Experience with Git and GitHub
  • Experience with technical writing and presentations
  • Strong understanding of technical and product vision and strategy
  • Highly effective communicator, superb listening skills
