Treehouse brings affordable technology education to people everywhere in order to help them achieve their dreams and change the world. We’re on a mission to make technology education affordable and accessible for everyone. Our students learn at their own pace and become job ready within months at a fraction of the cost of traditional college or training.

Treehouse is looking for experienced designers to create content with us on one or more of the following topics:

  • UI Design Patterns– Identifying and applying common UI patterns in the design of a typical software application.
  • Information Architecture– Organizing and presenting different types of content on a page, including methods such as Card Sorting and Site Maps.
  • Creating Content– Producing and organizing written and visual content for use in a software application.
  • User Testing: Measuring Design– Measuring qualitative and quantitative aspects of a design, including A/B testings
  • [Your Course Here]– Have an idea we haven’t mentioned, but think it’s a good fit? Let us know!

These opportunities are for independent contractors working remotely. The typical time commitment is anywhere from 2 to 4 months. We are flexible and will work around your schedule for deliverables. You must be well organized, a self-starter, and have a passion for education. Excellent communication, writing skills, and an ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner are necessary.

Treehouse loves working with teachers who have taught in a formalized setting, written books, and/or spoken at conferences. That said, we also work with people who are just plain good at what they do.

Responsibilities

Write structured educational content and work with the video team through production and release. This includes:

  • Writing scripts
  • Creating engaging example projects
  • Building assessment material using Treehouse Quizzes and Code Challenges
  • Recording all course materials both on-set and as a screencast

Qualifications

  • Native English Speaker
  • Excellent writing skills – if you have a blog, have written a book (or would like to someday), you would be happy doing this kind of work
  • Proven design experience within the content you are building – you should be able share an online portfolio, live websites, or mobile apps to showcase your work
  • An interest in presenting on-camera and through screencasts
  • Ability to self-organize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel to our Portland, OR or Orlando, FL studio for (1) four-day, Monday- Thursday work week for recording
