Deputy Editor (SBNation.com)

Do you: love sports; have an interest in journalism, blogging, social media and storytelling; enjoy being in the middle of creating, coordinating and distributing content when sports are being played? SB Nation may have a job for you.

We are seeking a full-time Deputy Editor for SBNation.com, our national sports brand, to oversee news and social coverage of sports at night. You will be collaborating with a talented team of editors, writers, video producers, and social media producers to create engaging sports content that speaks directly to the passions of our audience.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Experience managing a virtual newsroom
• Demonstrated editorial judgment and the ability to make sound decisions quickly, in a fast-paced, breaking news environment
• Understanding of platform trends and is adept at online distribution
• Proficient communication skills and enjoys collaborating in a team environment
• Experience using analytics to inform editorial decisions
• Familiarity with SBNation.com and its voice, as well as with the SB Nation team brands
• A flexible schedule. This position is for nights and weekends (sports!)

What you would do:

• Manage the discovery and posting of content, working with our news desk and social team for creation and distribution
• Direct the news desk, prioritizing assignments, balancing resources, and shifting writers’ tasks based on where news coverage is needed at any given moment
• Work in a virtual environment, primarily using Slack to coordinate coverage and communicate with the team
• Identify stories for potential follow-up coverage
