As a Data Science Analyst on the Insights team, you will collaborate with our product managers, software engineers, and business units to collect and analyze data, define success, build dashboards, design models, and communicate findings. You will actively discover new opportunities to apply data and insights to company workflows. W

Responsibilities

  • Surface product and business insights through data inquiry and analysis
  • Embed into product and engineering teams to identify and creatively solve relevant questions
  • Help the business and product teams form and iterate our key performance indicators to make sure we are focusing on the most important factors
  • Communicate and present findings to partners in multi-functional roles
  • Design and build automated, repeatable processes for working with data such as dashboards
  • Develop forecasts and predictive models to better understand our most important metrics
  • Foster a supportive, dynamic environment that will allow everyone to do their best work

Minimum requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in a quantitative role
  • Fluency in SQL and deep understanding of database technology and querying very large datasets (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, Hive, Spark SQL, etc.)
  • Understanding of statistical analysis, especially hypothesis testing and causal inference
  • Experience with at least one statistical software package such as R, NumPy/SciPy/matplotlib, Stata, SPSS, MATLAB, or advanced Excel
  • Strong interest in technology with good product intuition and an eye for business needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in storytelling with data

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with technical products/markets
  • Knowledge of BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or similar
  • Strong data visualization skills in both familiarity with how people interpret data visualizations and how to build interactive visualizations such as with D3
  • Understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g., data structures and algorithms)
  • Familiarity with predictive techniques/machine learning algorithms and the desire to stay up to date as the field of data science evolves
