As a Creative Director at GitHub, youโ€™ll lead the graphic design team in developing, documenting, and producing the brand strategy and assets. Youโ€™ll contribute both strategically and in the actual execution of work, as well as educating internal teams on the importance of brand strategy to ensure consistency across all platforms. Most importantly, weโ€™re looking for someone who will help our team translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies and enable them to tell inspiring brand stories that elevate the quality of marketing, communications, and product experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategy to maintain, update, and grow the GitHub brand
  • Lead the team to develop a strategy to document, maintain, and grow the GitHub brand
  • Develop a series of sub-brands, such as marketing campaigns and events
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as marketing, product, and sales to ensure brand consistency across all platforms
  • Make strategic decisions about how design projects fit into GitHub’s roadmap and company goals
  • Advocate for designers, their processes, and proposed solutions
  • Manage and mentor a growing team of graphic designers, as well as our Shop team
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for a diverse group of individuals
  • Help build a network of creative partners, including freelance designers, illustrators, and vendors

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to think through design problems and arrive at elegant solutions
  • Comfortable collaborating with various internal teams, as well as working independently
  • Ability to articulate and receive written and verbal feedback
  • Sense of humor and egoless ownership of projects
  • 10+ years of creative agency or internal design team experience
  • 5+ years designing for brand and product
  • Previous management experience, as well as the desire to lead and advocate for others
  • Online portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual thinking and a variety of projects, as well as an understanding of design principles
  • Familiar with tech-driven creative environments
