Overview

Mozilla’s Firefox Operations Security Team is looking for a Security Engineer to increase the security of our AWS cloud infrastructure. You’ll need extraordinary AWS skills, experience implementing access control and network security policies in cloud environments (AWS, Heroku, Azure, etc.), and a deep understanding of DevOps and modern web applications. You’ll be hardening our infrastructure by working closely with the teams responsible for hosting backend services for Firefox. You will be expected to provide hands-on technical engineering of our ever-growing server and application environments.

Most importantly, you will become a core member of the team responsible for protecting Firefox, and keeping Mozilla’s users safe on the Internet.

As an operations security engineer at Mozilla, you will…

  • Protect the services Firefox depends on from attacks and abuses.
  • Strengthen the controls around our AWS environments (IAM policies, network ACLs, Cloudtrail logging & monitoring, etc.)
  • Develop and implement a strategy to port security controls to other cloud infrastructure providers (Heroku, Azure, GCP, Packet.net, etc.)
  • Automate security testing and auditing to prevent regressions and catch issues before they reach production.
  • Write, maintain, and expand automation scripts and monitoring tools
  • Work with developers and operators across the organization to keep the Firefox backend infrastructure safe

Your Professional Profile

  • You have proven AWS security knowledge, from high level architectural concepts down to the implementation.
  • You have fortified cloud infrastructure, and implemented kernel security, network access controls, account management, etc.
  • You’ve earned your wings in operations and are comfortable working alongside agile ops teams.
  • You love automating yourself out of a job, and have experience coding in Python, Ruby, or Go.
  • The full stack does not scare you, and you can run the infrastructure for the code you write.
  • A B.S. in Computer Science would be lovely, but real-world experience is preferred.
