Overview

GitHub’s Atom team is looking for engineers to help build the world’s most hackable text editor. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developer tools, delivering a top-notch editing experience, and participating in Atom’s passionate open source community. In the next year we’re focused on improving Atom’s performance, collaboration features, and better responsiveness with our open source community. Come help us make Atom the world’s best editor and open source project!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop core text editing features in the Atom editor
  • Develop new Atom packages that use core APIs
  • Collaborate with the Atom open source community on bug reports, fixes, and feature requests
  • Evangelize Atom at meetups, conferences, and hackathons

DESIRED SKILLS:

Awesome software developers have diverse backgrounds. Long qualification lists are a drag. We care most about developers that have a track record of caring deeply about shipping software that helps others and want to be part of an amazing open source community. If that’s you, we want to hear from you. Things that might make you stand out include:

  • 1+ years of professional work experience
  • Demonstrable experience building lightning-fast desktop applications
  • Solid JS, HTML, and CSS chops
  • Cross-platform desktop application development experience
  • API design experience
  • Demonstrable comfort and productivity working on a distributed team
